Privacy Policy for Wheel of Life

1. Information you enter in the extension

Wheel of Life allows you to create personal assessments, rate life areas, enter notes and related information, and save results.

Information stored by the extension can include assessment names and areas, ratings, notes, actions, focus areas, reflection answers, next steps, saved results and their dates, and application preferences. A name and theme preference may also remain from earlier use.

This information is stored locally using localStorage in your browser profile and is used to provide the extension’s features. The current version does not provide its own cloud synchronisation.

The extension does not send your assessment content to us or to the companion website. The Welcome page’s extension messaging does not provide access to your assessments, ratings, notes or saved results.

The current extension does not include analytics or advertising trackers.

Please consider the sensitivity of information you enter, particularly when using a shared device or browser profile.

2. Local storage, deletion and exported files

Locally stored information remains in your browser profile until you delete it, clear the relevant browser data, or it is otherwise removed.

Deleting a saved result removes that result. Starting a new assessment replaces the current draft but does not delete saved results. Clear all data removes the extension’s locally stored application data and preferences, including remaining data from earlier versions.

The extension can generate PNG images and printable reports, which you may save as PDF using your browser’s print dialog. Printable reports can include notes, reflection answers and next steps.

Exported, printed, backed-up or shared copies are separate from the data inside the extension. Deleting information in the extension does not delete those copies. You control how you store and share them.

We cannot retrieve, restore or remotely delete assessment content stored only on your device.

3. Welcome page and extension communication

On first installation, the extension opens https://wheelof.me/welcome/.

The page address includes the extension ID and, when available, an indication of whether the extension’s toolbar icon is pinned. It may also include a language code in the lang parameter to specify the language shown on the page.

The extension ID identifies the extension, not a personal assessment or user account. An unpacked installation used for testing may have a different ID.

Loading the Welcome page sends a website request that includes these URL parameters.

While the page is open, it may ask the installed extension whether its toolbar icon is pinned. The extension responds with a pinned, unpinned or unknown state. This exchange takes place within the browser and helps the page display appropriate setup instructions.

The checked page code does not send these responses to our server or external services. The exchange does not include assessment content, ratings, notes or saved results.

4. Website requests and technical information

The current Welcome page does not use analytics, advertising trackers, cookies or browser storage. Its scripts, styles and images are served from the website itself.

When you visit wheelof.me, the web server records technical request information, including the connecting IP address, request time, requested path and query parameters, response status, response size, referring page and browser information where provided. Error logs may also contain technical details associated with failed requests.

These records are used to operate, secure and troubleshoot the website, not to access or analyse your locally stored assessments.

Website logs are configured for daily rotation, retaining up to 14 rotated files in addition to the current logs. This is a rotation setting rather than a guaranteed deletion period of exactly 14 days.

The website is hosted by Fozzy. Server backups may include website logs and may retain copies after the corresponding logs have been rotated or deleted from the live server. The hosting provider also maintains separate technical network logs, including source and destination IP addresses, ports and other technical traffic information.

5. Support communications

If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and any information you include in your message. We use that information to respond to your request and resolve related support or privacy matters.

Please do not send assessment content or other sensitive information unless you choose to do so and it is necessary for your request.

Email communications are processed through the email service used to receive and respond to messages.

6. Sharing and advertising

We do not sell your assessment content or use it for personalised advertising.

We use service providers to host the website and handle support email. Those providers process information associated with those services; they do not receive your locally stored assessments merely because you use the extension.

We may disclose information that we actually hold when required by applicable law or when necessary to protect the security and legal rights of users or the service. This does not give us access to information stored only on your device.

7. Retention and your choices

You control assessment information stored in your browser and the files you export.

Support messages are retained only as needed to handle your request, address related issues and meet applicable legal obligations. Website log rotation and the possibility of additional retention in hosting backups and provider network logs are described above.

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of personal information we hold about you, or to object to certain processing. You may also have the right to complain to a relevant data protection authority.

8. Security

We take reasonable measures appropriate to the information we handle. However, no storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.

The privacy of locally stored assessments also depends on the security of your device, operating system and browser profile.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the extension, website or our information-handling practices change. We will publish the updated policy at this address and revise the date above.

Where required, we will provide additional notice and obtain consent before introducing a new use of information.
